Worst Medical Aid for Expecting Parents

We are having the worst experience as expecting parents with Momentum Medical Aid, we registered our pregnancy got a nice welcome letter saying congratulations and that is it, that is what we pay for since 2018.... everything has been either through savings or out of our own pockets.

They did not even cover 40% of our first consultation and scan. From blood tests to medication to assist with the pregnancy every expense is for our own pockets. Even with the maternity benefit programme we are getting unpaid statements from the gynecologist that they tried to claim from the health saver and that it is depleted...

Sending e-mails to claims take 5+ working days to get any sort of feedback and responses are robotic....

We are considering putting our estimated R 8000 contribution in our pockets as it seems even though we chose a Life Hospital, a doctor listed even though we could not find an updated list and the app does not help to confirm, taking hours to try and figure out just to suit the medical aid, we will have to fork out the money from now until date of birth as it seems that we are not covered for anything... the call center answers we receive are inconsistent and there is no way of booking an in-person consultation.

At least we still have 7 months to save our contributions and pay for all these unforeseen expenses.

Imagine having a medical emergency.... just know that you are going to pay.
