Unfair termination of medical aid membership

I was surprised to see that I am not the only one that Momentum unfairly terminate without investigating my medical history.

I was admitted to hospital with diarrhea and dehydration in October 2021, while in hospital a gastroscopy and colonoscopy was done. Colon cancer was diagnosed and the medical aid terminate my membership with immediate effect, stating that I was dishonest in my declaration of my medical condition for the last 12 months.

I was never on chronic treatment for anything or was treated for even a stomach bug in the last 12 months. I find this one sided decisions from Momentum very disturbing, because my membership fees were accepted by them since March 2021, and now that I am in need of medical care, it is suddenly cancelled.

It is concerning that a medical aid can justify this kind of treatment of members and not do proper medical history follow-ups before termination and Hide behind the POPI Act to give answers to my attending physicians while I am sitting by her to give permission to them.
