THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER WITH MOMENTUM

" Without Prejudice''

Never have a baby when you have medical aid with Momentum Health

Our Gynae advised us to go for the 13 week scan of our baby, which is a nuchal scan or nuchal translucency (NT) scan. This scan is a specialised scan that can only be performed by certain Doctors or Radiographers / Sonographers. The 13 week scan is extremely important as this scan will look for Fetal deformities or abnormalities.

The Doctor our Gynae referred us to was booked up in advance, so we searched high and low for another medical facility that could perform the scan during the designated time frame. After contacting 6( six) different practices each referring one to another. we finally got a lucky break with Alnisa Maternity Home in Rondebosch. We went for our (NT) scan on the 20 December 2017 at Alnisa, with its great, friendly, efficient staff. and clean facility.

On the 26th January 2017. We sent the Alnisa statement/ invoice regarding the NT Scan to Momentum Health for reimbur*****t.

On the 31st January 2017 we received a response from Momentum stating that the Doctors accreditation to perform the scan was required.

We contacted Alnisa and they sent us a new statement with the practice number changed to Alnisa Maternity Home.

In the interim we had another scan on the 6th February 2017.

On the 13th February 2017 we sent the Alnisa statement/ invoice reflecting both scans performed to Momentum health claims for reimbur*****t.

On the 16th February 2017 we received a response from Momentum stating that the " incorrect tariff

( procedure) code was claimed". They required a updated claim for processing.

We contacted Momentum and they advised us that the Practice number was for a maternity hospital, and we could not claim under this.

We then asked if we could claim under the Doctors practice number who owned the Hospital who is a GP (General practioner).

The consultant from Momentum stated that we could.

We contacted Alnisa and asked them to please change the statement/ invoice to the GP ( General

Practioners) practice number who owns the hospital. We also asked them to change the details of the doctor who performed the scan to the sonographer.

This was to make sure everything was correct and in order before resending the claim to Momentum.

The claim was resubmitted wot Momentum Health on the 16 February 2017.

On the 20th February 2017 we contacted Momentum Health to find out how far the processing of the claim was.

We were advised that the claim was not going to be processed as the GP ( General Practioner) who’s practice number reflected on the invoice was required to provide a certificate reflecting his/her accreditation to perform these scans.

We then spoke with the Team leader/ Manager Minenhle Blose from Momentum regarding the situation and our frustration at the whole procedure. We advised Momentum ( Minenhle Blose) to contact Alnisa Maternity home and request whatever info was required as we do not understand what it is that is required anymore. We advised him that we would require feedback by no later than the morning of the 21st February 2017. Nor Minenhle Blose or his Manager Clint Murugan have called us back with feedback. We have called them to find out what company they require the accreditation from so we could call them ourselves to speed up this nightmare of a process. None of the above mentioned managers have called us back.

Alnisa Maternity home has been operational since 2010. According to the website they perform Ultrasounds, birthing of babies, Gynaecological/female wellness services. We were referred to Alnisa by other medical practices for the NT scan we were required to have done in December 2016. Based on the great, friendly, efficient service and staff we decided to make use of the Alnisa maternity home for our 20 week scan. We would also like to make use of them when our next scan is due.

However Momentum Health makes it impossible to make use of Alnisa, as according to Momentum. Alnisa or its staff are not accredited.

We have contacted the HPCSA & Medical protection Society to assist us in this matter regarding which doctors are accredited. This has been to no avail as they do not know / understand what we are referring to.

As a women/ patient and client of Momentum Health I am extremely dissatisfied with the service

and lack of understanding or knowledge Momentum can provide to their clients.

At sales stage I was not advised to prove the accreditation of every Doctor we make use of. And then provide this accreditation to Momentum health at claims stage.

Momentum health should be taking the lead and role of a medical aid services provider.

And leave us as the clients to just concentrate on having a happy healthy Baby.
