STILL NO HELP FROM MOMENTUM

Momentum said they will get back to me on the post below, but never have:

I have stage 4 endometriosis, and recently my MRI scan revealed that I have growths on my sacral ligament, lesions on my bowel which might result in bowel loss, and I live a daily life with debilitating pain. I cannot use my leg without pain and it affects my job. I previously had severe surgery resulting in a bowel resection for endometriosis.

The only way to successfully remove endometriosis lesions and endometriomas is with excision surgery, and only excision specialists can do this- gynecologists are not trained to excise endometriosis, and I have had surgery with a gynecologist who completely misdiagnosed my staging of endometriosis, and I needed surgery again that year. Why does Momentum only provide me with a list of gynecologists for endometriosis, when there are endometriosis specialists? Gynecologists can only do ablation. Ablation grows back rapidly, which will result in constant surgeries.

I now have to pay copayments for my upcoming surgery because the specialist charges above medical aid rates, yet there are no specialists offered by Momentum for endometriosis, so either way I will never be accommodated. There are only a handful of specialists in Cape Town and this specialist charges the 'lower' rate compared to others.

I disagree with this. Endometriosis needs to be recognized, excision specialists should be added to your list of providers.

Please get back to me on this. It's unfair that I have to pay so much while we're paying for a top plan, it makes no sense to me.

Update: I am still waiting for someone to get back to me. I was just told I have a copayment of R17 000. I need a bowel surgeon but momentum is not covering it and it needs to be motivated. Momentum is only covering half of the specialist's fee. It's not my fault that momentum is the only medical aid that isn't contracted with specialists for endometriosis. This is not even an elective surgery. If your recommended gynecologists perform my surgery, they will not excise my endo, they will only burn spots off. I cannot accept this poor treatment.

This weekend I was put on morphine as my situation got worse, I am still on morphine. I can't go to the hospital because I'm afraid of this copayment. I am at risk of ovarian torsion and can die.
