**** Service for a Medical Scheme

I’ve been on Momentum Health Ingwe Plan for a couple of years and I am grossly disappointed and let down by them. Firstly, they claim I have cover at any hospital (Ingwe ANY). I was involved in an MVA in June this year, upon my arrival at my nearest hospital (Netcare Milpark) I was turned away because “Momentum Ingwe doesn’t pay” them. Mind you this was an emergency. I wasn’t even triaged then transported to their nearest network hospital. In an EMERGENCY btw. I then went to their network hospital (Life Brenthurst), only to find they did not pay for my full stay and I was sitting with a huge outstanding settlement on my hospital bill because yet again, they did not pay in full. This is a network hospital by the way.

Don’t even bother seeing a specialist. Many claims will return rejected. After getting pre-auth and a referral from my doctor, so many claims came back to me not paid - from radiology to pathology. One of the reasons for their radiology claim being rejected was I used a specialist not on their network. Please explain how when I got pre-auth and looked up the specialist from my Momentum Health App.

I am now sitting with about R10,000 health bills not paid because of Momentum. As a full time student, not only is this extremely stressful but grossly inconvenient for a medical aid that promises to take care of your health as a student studying full time. If anything, this stress has exacerbated my chronic condition (which by the way they don’t even cover my BP medication because it’s “not in their formulary”). Please don’t even waste your time with this scheme. I’m back with Discovery Health and I couldn’t be happier.
