Playing with people's lives

My baby sister, Abigail Stiglingh, joined Momentum Health last year. September she completed all the forms required at that stage. And October her membership kicked in. According to her knowledge she was covered and had met all their requirements. On the 19th of June friends rushed to the Medi-Clinic in Somerset West. She had severe abdominal pains. While there the Clinic tried to contact Momentum for authorisation, but I believe after 2 days they still had no luck. She was discharged on the 21st of June. While in hospital new requirements surfaced. Forms were sent to our house doctor. He is currently in Ramadan and not working. So he has not been able to complete her forms yet. They have only now informed her of a 12 month waiting period for existing conditions. And I'm sure they are hoping the dr confirms it was pre-existing.

If all these things were pointed out to her prior to the 19th of June, she would obviously have had these people drive her to a public hospital. She's a student and an intern earning peanuts to cover her expenses for the move from Jhb to Cpt. She would not have put herself in a position of owing a hospital R10 000 for 2.5 days in hospital. In February 2016 she was also rushed to the ER for abdominal pains. The Dr on call diagnosed her with bladder infection and prescribed meds. She put in a late claim. And the very same Momentum covered their portion of the bill. She covered the remaining.

So must a person first die before authorisation can be given? And why pay previous bills but have issues now? I phoned Momentum Health sales Dept, the phone rang twice before someone picked up. My call was transferred to the Claims dept I hung on for about 10 mins and then I dropped the phone. What sick game are you playing with people's lives? If you had been clear from the beginning it would have given Abigail something to think about and maybe consider another Medical Aid.

The principle is that this is her first Medical Aid and you should have been very clear about your terms and conditions. You have misled her.

She is currently sick again and I know for a fact it's because of this issue

Abigail Stiglingh

ID nr 920 ********** 085

911 618 216

PS. I'll have her sign the consent form you conveniently sent a week after I first contacted you with regards to her claim.

We have been in contact with Abigail to discuss her enquiry.

She is aware that we are still awaiting Clinical History Assessment forms from her Doctor, who is currently on holiday and will return on the 18th July 2016.

On receipt of documents we can resolve this enquiry.

Kind regards
