Paying for Medical Aid That Doesn’t Pay When It Matters

I’ve been paying Momentum Health for the past 6 months and have paid approximately R33,200 in total contributions.

Recently, I was in an emergency medical situation. Despite the treatment being listed under my benefits, Momentum did not pay a single cent. Everything had to be paid out of my own pocket.

This raises a serious question: what is the point of having a medical fund if, in an emergency, you still carry the full financial burden yourself?

Medical aid is meant to provide peace of mind and protection when you need it most. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite: stressful, costly, and deeply disappointing.

I would strongly caution others to thoroughly investigate claim processes, exclusions, and real-life payout experiences before committing.
