Pathetic is an understatement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So my parents have been on the Momentun medical aid since I can remember and we have never had a problem ever. But like so many people that I know and so many that you can probably relate to my situation, my dad retired at the age of 65 but being active and fit he decided no way and he will continue to work which he has done. But COVID came upon us and like many know lots of people lost their jobs including my dad. Medical aid in our family is key as my mum has health issues that is why instead of owning a car, they have medical aid. When retrenchment happened, we were given paperwork by the company and we jumped into action to get the medical aid sorted to the basic hospital plan, with COVID government is not really an option for us with underlying medical conditions that my mum has. We submit the documents and are told that we don’t make the cut for the plan as it is income based. My dad has lost his job, there is no income, at the age of 65 no one is going to employ him, my mum has had double heart surgery she does not work and has never worked a day in her life? Are they really able to work considering their age? The answer from consultant Michelle Venter is the documents are not important she needs bank statements for 6 months… now you tell me how can you invent something that has not happened, until COVID and lockdown my dad had a job, he was employed getting a salary and his medical aid was being paid by the company, you have a letter from the company saying they have closed down, you can see his age, the retirement annuity he is getting is below R2k, there is no other income, but medical aid wants us to invent statements as it is income based… what else do we need to say he is unemployed? So in 2 days’ time my parents will have no medical aid as Momentum does not look at each case on merit Momentum does not consider what people have been going through in the trying times, guess when you pay the high premium that is the only time you get service. So my mum with her conditions can go to a government hospital and meet death that is fine with Momentum because the bank statements say my dad was getting an income… what service is that, we submitted documents a month ago and had to beg and beg to get an answer, now we have resubmitted documents again 2 weeks ago and still we are begging and begging .. please think wisely when it comes to Momentum, they don’t see us as people, we are just numbers on a bank statement. Our health saver that is sitting with loads of money Momentum will also not give to us for 6 months (not sure why), does not say that anywhere on our contract that they will keep our money for 6 months, so my parents can sit with no income, no medical aid, no money to live while Momentum can enjoy declining cover and enjoying the interest on our positive balance … Well done Momentum .. and as for Michelle Venter, please teach her how to respond to emails and not take 4 weeks and begging by a broker and client to get her to do her job which is still not done.
