Non-Disclosure of Benefits

I was admitted to a clinic in Centurion and before I was admitted, I obtained a pre-authorisation number to confirm that the medical aid will cover the hospital stay with all benefits being covered and provided them with the ICD 10 code from the clinic. The clinic explained to the Medical Aid that they will submit a weekly bill which has a daily amount to which the medical aid agreed to in terms of the billing process and I spoke to a case Manager at the time who nobody seems to remember. The admission was in February 2016 and I got an email from the clinic today only to say that the medical aid has only approved part of the invoice and I am responsible for payment of R24 500 as my medical aid benefits were insufficient. I called the medical aid to escalate this and speak to a consultant Zipho Msomi but she refused to put me through to a case manager as I am then responsible for this account or the clinic will list me on ITC. Nobody has that kind of money lying around. The medical aid approved 21 days stay and I only stayed at the clinic for 19 days. Nobody at any stage informed me that my benefits were not sufficient. Medical Aid is not responding to my calls.
