No treatment for cancer patient due to a 'loophole'
My father was denied treatment for an extremely aggressive form of prostrate cancer because he registered with a new doctor 3 days prior to Momentum's 3 month waiting period. The GP being proceeded with the normal physical and blood tests any competent doctor would do on a 65 year old new patient. 3 separate doctors reports were sent to Momentum (including a respected Urologist) informing Momentum that he displayed no signs or symptoms of cancer. Only after the waiting period had lapsed and Momentum had taken my parents money and issued their membership numbers, was my father given antibiotics for an infection. Weeks later cancer was found. SA's state hospitals only offer 2 out of the 3 treatments my father needs for his aggressive (7, high count 4+3 aggressive cancer). Despite countless requests and appeals Momentum have cancelled both my parents medical aid and (let's call a spade a spade) disputed the reports of three Medical Professionals and denied my father the right to the treatment he desperately needs and cannot all be offered by the state. Momentum surely you can do better. You say you review each case on individual merit and have denied my father treatment in the name of fairness to all members.
