motivation for payment ignored

My mum was scheduled to have a polyp surgically removed and biopsied from her mouth. The doctor advised us that it could be done under general anaesthetic in hospital in which case it would be covered by the hospital benefit. However, because of the increased risk of GA for elderly patients he advised that it be done under local anaesthetic at the Sandton Surgical Centre- A Momentum associated Life Centre.<br> I wrote a motivation (together with the doctors quote and motivation) for why this should be considered for payment from the hospital benefit. <br> My motivation letter was ignored and the doctor given a response that the procedure was approved and that payment would come from medical savings. Surely the medical advisor should not ignore a member's request and should at least have responded to the request? Also, it is unacceptable that members should have to consider procedures with increased risk such as GA (at increased cost to the member and the medical aid) to ensure that medical aid will pay for procedures. I therefore request that this procedure be reconsidered for payment form the hospital benefit.
