MOMENTUM IS A DISAPPOINTMENT

I have been on Momentum Health for more than two years now. I am on the Access Plan as it is what my family and I can afford. My son had a concussion at school yesterday and docors at casualty suspected he was bleeding internally and requested a CT scan. To my shock& horror Momentum refused to give authorisation for the scan and I had to make a plan to get the R2300 the hospital needed or risk my son going to a state facility. I am totally disappointed and shocked that after months of paying over R4k a month,Momentum can refuse to help my child. It was an emergency, my son was even losing his sight and needed the scan. Noone wakes up and decides they feel like going for a scan. I dont see why Momentum Health does not make provision for emergencies even if there's a limit per beneficiary . I am just shocked at the way this plan does not cover emergencies. Each time one goes to casualty for an emergency the claim is rejected as u need to go to your network doctor. I have been to the casualty dept at night when my network dr is closed but still, noone cares, rules are rules.I paid R4400 for med aid but at the end it was useless to me when i needed it most. I think I must cancel this
