Momentum Health don't want to settle the bill

<p>I got into an accident at the gym and was rushed to hospital where i was immediately booked in for an operation which took place the very next day. My partner phoned Momentum to try and get authorisation and got through to an emergency number as it was after hours where she was told she didn’t need authorisation as i was booked in. This was double checked with the hospital which said they would send everything to the Momentum as i was being booked in for an emergency operation. I have since received an enormous bill from the hospital and the orthopedic surgeon which the medical aid has rejected payment and i am supposed to cover. I have raised this with Momentum on various occasions and I was told that the case managers are still investigating whether this was an emergency or not. I called into momentum several times and spoke to different consultants with the last communication from the case managers is that this case isn't considered as an emergency according to the momentum definition of what an emergency is. I am very confused by this as you can imagine because firstly what constitutes as an emergency has not been communicated, I was also booked in for an emergency operation plus I work with my hands which means that this was an emergency for my livelihood too.</p> <p>I am at this time very upset that I have to always come to this platform to have matters resolved. Why is it that we can pay our monthly Momentum installments with no problems to try and avoid these very issues. I am actually wondering what is the point of having medical aid in the first place if these are the kinds off stressful issues that arise. </p>
