Momentum Health – 10 Months of Neglect and Zero Accountability

Our son was born on 11 February 2025 at Sandton Medi-Clinic with a rare craniofacial anomaly and severe cleft palate. He spent weeks in ICU and was discharged on 06 March 2025. Since then, we have been fighting for 10 months to get Momentum Health to settle the hospital and doctor bills. Instead of solutions, we’ve received excuses, lies, and complete disregard for our family’s situation. Momentum claims incorrect ICD-10 codes are the issue, yet they partially paid for medication beyond two ICU days. Yesterday, the doctor informed us the debt is now bad debt and she will no longer deal with Momentum. I am employed in the finance industry—bad debt will destroy my career. How am I suppose to earn a living! I have filed complaints via Momentum’s website, sent emails, emailed complaints departments, and called multiple times, but no one bothers to call back or resolve the issue. When we ask to speak to a manager or case manager, we are told they do not take calls or speak to clients. Momentum expects us to act as middlemen between them, the hospital, and the doctor. The hospital says Momentum is lying; Momentum says the doctor and hospital won’t engage. Meanwhile, we are left with crushing stress, panic attacks, and financial risk while caring for a child with a serious condition. 10 months to resolve a claim is unacceptable. This is grossly unprofessional, *********, and shows Momentum Health’s complete disregard for its members. Momentum Health should be ashamed. If you value your peace of mind and your family’s health, avoid Momentum Health at all costs. They will ignore your emails, ignore your complaints, and leave you to suffer.
