Momentum does not want to cover a procedure after being a client for 26 years

On Wednesday 20 August my father, Eddie Clack collapsed outside Table View police station hitting his head on the concrete floor. The impact was such that he passed out. When coming round, an ambulance was called - following the directions on the back of the Momentum health card - 082911.

He was taken to Netcare Blouberg hospital, as he has Momentum Healthcare client. We soon discovered that Momentum said that he must go home and they are not paying for anything.

The doctor was adamant that he couldn’t release him and said he must admit Eddie as they didn’t know what was wrong with him and couldn’t release based on the symptoms.

Following many frustrating calls by the doctors to Momentum and approximately 7 hours later, he was finally admitted to High Care, a brain scan and ECG was done. They then discovered a fractured skull and an abnormality in the heart.

The cardiologist was called who advised an angiogram must be done and possible stents.

Again, Momentum Health say they will NOT cover a thing, including the scan.

Being clients of Momentum Health for approximately 26 years and pensioners, we find this utterly atrocious and are extremely disappointed to learn they will not pay a cent and wanted to send Eddie home - with a fractured skull and now, finding out he requires further tests on his heart.
