Health Platform preauthorisation paid from savings

Having been for a pre-authorised General Medical, Momentum have deducted the cost from my savings not from the Health Platform benefit, citing the doctor is a registered surgeon and not a General Practitioner.

There is only 1 doctor in Underberg, and he runs the General Practice in the town. I consulted this doctor as a General Practitioner, for the pre-authorised medical.

The fact that he is registered as a surgeon with Momentum Health and that they will not cover his consult is completely hidden from the member, and only made known after the fact.

This seems to me, to be a typical insurance **** to avoid payment on a minor technicality. Why have Momentum Health not updated their records to show that this particular doctor runs a legitimate General Practice, surely they have had claims from this practice before and are aware of the fact.

The call center response as usual is pathetic, issuing useless reference numbers(*** & ***) but offering no way of elevating your problem.

I now intend to get a letter from the doctors practice, stating he runs a General Practice, and then elevating the matter to the Council for Medical Schemes and the Ombudsman for a ruling
