GP gives potential Covid19 infected Momentum patience the run around and no medical care..

I hope this email finds you well. However this is not social email. But rather one to express my utter disgust in the way that we were treated by one of your network GP as stated below. *** VAN DER WALT No 31 Monument Road, Kempton Park Kempton Park Gauteng ***

I called the above mentioned GP to arrange that my Children be examined as I had been diagnosed positive with the Covid 19 virus and stated to them that I needed my children to be examined as they had all started exhibiting symptoms and are feverish. I called the GP’s rooms to make an appointment and they gave me a time slot for 8:00 AM of which I missed, I then spoke to the reception when got there and they moved my time to 12:00 PM when we arrive at 11:59 we were requested to wait in the car as they had no rooms to put us in for isolation we waited for an Hour in the car. They then called use to come in as they had availed a room for us to sit in.

We were told that the doctor had an emergency that he had to attend and will be with us soonest of which I understood perfectly well. This is an ordeal that took about 15 to 25 min of us waiting. Once this emergency had passed the doctor attended to another patient which also took some time. It took me waiting in the room for about 2hours for medical attention of which at his time it was clear that we were never going to get.

I then left the doctor’s rooms after 3hours of waiting and having my youngest son who was at this stage unmanageable crying out of control. It was then quite clear that they were not at all willing to help us. I understand that this is a new disease and also quite scary, how ever they could have just turned us away and it would have been more humane then what they did to us. Just to inform you my children have still not received the relevant medical attention and I have resorted to home treatment. My deepest concern is that they may need medical attention that I may not be qualified to provide or even know of as they had not been examined by a qualified medical pretensioner and have also not been tested for the Covid 19 virus that they may or may not have as you require the GP to provide a referral latter as well as a pathology form to authorise. To be honest at his stage I don’t see us obtaining this as our GP give possibly infected patients the worst treatment ever. I am not sure if this was because of our possible infection status of because they are reluctant to attend or even treat African people of colour.

I am bringing this to your attention as it also impacts on your product as a medical SP, how you deal with the provided information is totally up to you.
