Doula policy for natural birth is ridiculous that gynecologist must recommand

<p>We are expecting our second baby next year March 2017. We have decided for the second birth we will be a natural birth at genesis clinic instead of moden gynecologist route. For the natural route you need the following: a gynecologist then a midwife and potensially a doula for natural pain management. We have identify people in all three area's that woks closely with genesis clinic. But Momentum will only pay for a Doula that is spesified by their network of gynecologist. First of all finding a gynecologist that support natural birth is very hard these days, as c-cections have increaded dramtacally. Also gynecologist uses drugs and in my belief doesn't really suspport midwife / doula or at least very few do. The doula that we want to use, is registreted with Momentum. The midwife we used is a registered midwife and the gynecologist is one that really supports natural birth and works very closely with genesic clinic. When asked why must a gynecologist must recommend a doula and not a midwife. The Momentum system basically only caters for doctors was the answer from the agent to my wife.</p> <p> </p> <p>Midwifes work very close with doula and not gynecologist . It is very disappoiting to be on a health plan that claim you are covered for doula but while terms and conditions apply. The term and conditions in this case really doesn't make sence, this is really really disapointing !</p>
