Claim payout delay

I am extremely disappointed by the poor service recieved from Momentum Health.

In January my wife went to a Gynea for a checkup and about a month ago i received the claim statement stating that an amount is due to me as the claim amount will be paid out to me and i will then have to settle with the service provider - 1st time ever that i have to settle the amount, i mean really.... for what do i have medical aid in the first place, so that they can settle to account.

Shortly after i received another email stating that Momentum does not have my banking details, requesting me to fill out a form. Being suspicious in nature i checked on my momentum web portal and low and behold there was no banking details (which i have updated in the past through the company i work for).

But anyway I decided to phone in and update the details telephonically with a consultant, after which i also checked online if it had been updated and it was. I then asked the same consultant when the claim payment will be released to me as they have my banking details now after which he that he will send the request through and make sure the payment is released.

This was just before momentum's payment run, i waited patiently and after the payment run date given i checked my bank account, nothing.

I phoned Momentum again and spoke to another consultant, who put me on hold as he tried to find out when payment will be released to me. as i was holding listening to the most horrible waiting tone the line dropped, i phoned back approximately 5 times that day and each time the line dropped which infuriated me and i completely lost it with one of the consultants - for this i am very sorry.

Enraged i left it completely and decided i'll try again much later. however then my phone rang, it was the first consultant to whom i had spoken phoning me to tell me that the claim payment will be made on the 17th of March.

I waited patiently until today, the 18th of March. this morning i checked my bank account and still no payment or notification, nothing.

I am forced by my employer to take momentum health as my health care provider. My expectations are not being met and i am sick and tired of the pathetic service received from them. Everything is paid out of your savings, i cannot afford to go to a doctor or a dentist, you tell me if you can survive on a medical plan with 3 family members on a R4000 savings for the entire year. last year March my son accidentally broke my glasses and when i had them replaced by probably the chepest pair i could go for my medical savings was caput, we prayed hard every month that our toddler would not fall ill for the rest of the year, which he did about 11 times.

In my opinion, if you can avoid being forced by your employer to choose a specific medical aid. Whatever you do, do not choose Momentum health as you solution because their service delivery is terrible. Avoid the frustration and rather choose a different supplier... you will get better service, better benefits and you will probably live longer too because you wont be blowing your top each time you have to fight deplorable service.
