Bordering on *****ing

So, in November we were not paid by our company and this led to us not being able to cover the Medical Aid for November 2021. Not paid so cover was suspended, absolutely understandable and accepted and we had to pay for all of our Chronic meds and doctors’ visits in cash but that is only the part that is acceptable.

At the end of November (30th November) we made a payment for Medical Aid (R 6,247). As November was suspended and we did not have ANY access to medical aid for November when we made the payment, we expected the payment to be app**** to the December instalment and for our suspension to be lifted. In fact, we were able to manage to lift the suspension but then Momentum tried to take a double debit off the account (for November & December which failed) and the account was once again suspended and we had no access to medical aid again for the whole of December (having again to pay cash for everything). It also now appears that the funds that we paid were actually app**** to November (when we had no access to the medical aid and therefore for a service that we did not receive).

Now yesterday Momentum once again tried to take another double debit off the account (obviously for December & January) which once again failed.

So here is my question. What is Momentum doing trying to take funds off our account for a service that they refused us complete access to and for which we received no benefits forcing us to pay cash for all our medical requirements? I find this completely unacceptable and would expect that, seeing as that we were refused access to the medical aid for the whole month of December even after making a payment, the payment made to Momentum on the 30th November should now immediately app**** to the January instalment and that our suspension for the medical aid is lifted immediately.

I fully understand and agree with the right for Momentum to suspend medical aid for non-payment but what I do not agree with is the claiming payment for a past month when no service was received or indeed allowed for that month.
