SHOCKED AND DISGUSTED BY INCOMPETENCE AT MOMENTUM!!!

Took momentum medical aid for my family last year. Filled in all medical history forms honestly, so much so that even though their questionnaire is based on 12 month history, I included diagnosis from 6 years ago. Full disclosure.

Went to GP for routine checkup and explained symptoms I’d been experiencing for a few days. Was immediately referred to Gynae who did scan and advised I needed to be admitted to hospital.

Went to hospital, where they called momentum for authorisation. Momentum declined until both doctors filled in their form from THE NON DISCLOSURE RISK COMMITTEE!! Forms were sent, but given that I have changed provinces and I don’t have a medical history with these doctors, momentum requested forms to be filled out by my previous doctors that I haven’t seen for over 5 years. They forget that many people didn’t see doctors for two years during covid because it was impossible. I haven’t seen a doctor in 5 years! So what? I wasn’t sick.

Admission was urgent (but not an immediate emergency), with instructions for treatments and further testing. I have a confirmed infection, I have since haemorrhaged and I am still at home in bed while momentum “investigate” my Dr’s request for admission, in case of “non disclosure” on my application. Is this a joke? They have my full medical history from my previous medical aids, proof of which they required from birth to date before confirming my membership. My membership was granted with no exclusions and no waiting periods.

Now that I’m sick and need to be admitted, they decide it’s time to INVESTIGATE while my health worsens.

My broker, who has been amazing, has been in constant contact with them. Explained the severity of my case, explained I am not well and waiting at home for authorisation for THREE DAYS AND COUNTING!!! Still, NO RESPONSE.

Quick to deduct their monthly premiums but refuse to admit me while I bleed out at home. DISGUSTING. *********. PATHETIC.
