A telemarketer sold me a wifi product together with data during March. The deal was R 99 for 1 gig and I had asked for an additional 1 gig which he said would total R 39 therefore R 138 p.m.

The first installment went off in May of R 1000. I was completely shocked by this as I believed that the data was capped as the device would stop working (connecting) once the 2 gigs was depleted. Once I became aware of the ridiculous charge I left the device off, the battery has therefore been drained and I have not used it since.

However there have been debit orders coming off my account every month of unexplained amounts. When I asked a consultant for a statement I was simply informed that the company does not provide statements. So in other words they have been taking unauthorized random amounts off my account for a service I have not even been using. When I agreed to the product it was under the impression that I would never pay more than R 138 for the 2 gigs.

I asked to speak to someone who could assist me and I was told that a call audit would be performed to determine whether or not the product was incorrectly sold or not. She called me back and said after listening to the call she agrees that I was given incorrect information and she asked how I would like the matter handled. I told her I wanted the contract cancelled. She said okay she would get back to me and I have not heard back. The end of June another amount of R 1500 was debited from my account causing my authorized debit orders such as insurance to bounce, leaving me vulnerable to further financial stress. The bank charges resulting from having bounced debit orders as well as the fees I've had to pay to reverse your unauthorized debit orders have been adding up as well.

To date over R 5000 has been deducted from my account for a device that has not been charged or in use for months.
