MOBILE TALK - *****

Hi,

On 11 April 2019, I received a very friendly and convincing call from Ayanda who is employed at Mobile Talk. Ayanda, explained that he has a fantastic offer for R208 per month which includes the following: X1 Sim Card and LTE router (Unlimited Wi-Fi) X1 Sim Card and a Smartphone (3000 minutes)

Initially I wasn’t interested in doing any business with Telkom based on the amount of bad reviews. However, Ayanda was so convincing when he told me that the deal for R208 per month includes unlimited Wi-Fi.

He caught my attention. After the 18minute call, he discovered that he was speak to the wrong Mr Fakier and was indeed looking for my dad. I told him to speak to my dad as I would ask my dad to take the deal in the meantime. Both my dad and Ayanda agreed and the deal was signed and was promised to be delivered within 48hours.

I became a bit suspicious and called Mobile Talk a week later as I have not received any packages. These calls were made more than once and the consultants either hung up on me or were blatantly rude. The package arrived around the 26 April 2019.

Upon connecting the devices, I found that the I only received 1GB for the LTE router. This is something that was not agreed to. In fact, not once was this mentioned during the conversation. I called Mobile Talk and the consultant confirmed that I was provided the incorrect information in the first place and offered to have the package collected from me. At this point, she told me she would call me back and make the arrangements, of which never materialized.

The frustration becomes more: at the end of May, my dad’s account was debited for R319. I called again and was told that it was pro-rata. I could understand again. However, in June, the amount due was over R700. This raised the alarm that somewhere, something is not adding up.

During May, my dad received calls from Mobile Talk, saying that the amount is actually less than R208. He asked that they contact me because I am the one paying the account. Of which Mobile Talk still didn’t call.

I have not agreed to anything other than paying R208 per month. I’m sure your call records will reflect the same as mine which confirmed this.

This is a total rip-off which I will consider as a misunderstanding while I’m affording you the opportunity to remedy this situation before it escalates. I would like to place on record that I will honour the payment of R208 per month as agreed, and any other payments will not be made because I would like to believe that there is a logical explanation for this. Furthermore, I believe is fair, honest and ethical business and this is not the way forward.
