Charging Interest on a Paid Off Account - *********

I paid off my account in December 2020 and I was in a CR balance. In Janaury they charged me interest and they did the same in February. I was also not sent a statement I could just see my CR balance getting smaller. On enquiry I was told it was escalated the Accounts department on 22 February. This is very ********* business practice!

This was resolved very efficiently and I was assured no more interest will be charged. This month on the 15/03 there was a new amount of 0.44c of interest added.
Please explain how interest is charged on an account with a CR balance?!
