Based on recent customer reviews, Mo-zam-bik Restaurant earns praise for its Mozambican-style seafood, signature sauces and a few standout waiters, with Cavendish and Gateway named as favourites for fresh, well presented plates. Most feedback, however, centres on service breakdowns across branches, including long waits before orders are taken, cold or precooked chicken and prawns, dry line fish and calamari, and managers described as unyielding or argumentative. Confusion over seafood special conditions, inconsistent side rules between branches and a hygiene complaint at The Pearls further eroded loyal regulars' confidence.

Mozambique ballito Double Standards
It is with disgusting and disappointment that we had pitched up on Saturday evening to have your seafood special but were arrogantly told that thr special finished at 4pm. *******. I showed them the advert that doesn't state it ends 4pm, the manager pointed out that t's and c's app****. My wife said since we were there let's just eat there. As a matter of principle, I wanted to leave, but we decided to eat there. What made my blood boil was that when we were leaving, we saw so many tables having the specials. I approached 2 tables and they both confirmed that the waiter didn't tell them anything about 4pm close off. What kind of rules you are sharing with your loyal customers!!! This message will be on Hello Peter, Facebook, Instagram and all social media

Poor Poor Poor
Dear Owners of Mo-ZAM-bik Restaurant, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment following my recent visit to your restaurant on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. I had brought a colleague from Johannesburg to enjoy some fish at your establishment, but unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Upon our arrival, we were shown to our table and waited for about 5 minutes without any service. I had to get the manager’s attention to receive our menus, and after another 5 minutes, a large group of 12 foreign guests was seated behind us, and we were disturbed by the noise they made. To my dismay, the waiters seemed to prioritize their service over ours, neglecting us entirely. Eventually, we were asked for drink orders. When I requested a non-alcoholic beer, the waiter simply placed the bottle on the table without opening it, which felt dismissive. Overall, the service and food quality were disappointing and left me with a feeling of inequity— as if, as locals, we did not receive the same level of service compared to foreign customers at the waterfront. It’s disheartening, given that we pay the same prices and tip generously as well. As someone who values local businesses, this experience has left me feeling that we, as Cape Toniains, might need to consider boycotting the waterfront area where we should feel welcome and respected. Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. I hope you will address these issues to improve the experience for all your guests in the future. Best regards, [

Horrible service at Mozambik Eden on the bay
I have been a regular at Mozambik at Eden on the bay for many years now and generally received satisfactory service however my most recent visit has been very disappointing. I visited the restaurant on Sunday 5 July 2026 and noticed that the staff were all over the place, just busy with their own conversations and showing interest in the customers, we needed to call them to request a table, not ideal but didn't put too much into it, my wife and I chose our table and the usher said the waiter will be over to take our order, we sat there for almost 20minutes until our patience started to run out, we flagged one of the waiters that was assigned to a table next to us that offered to take our drinks order as our waiter will be over to take our food order, that took another 40minutes sitting there, it was only after complaining to one of the other waiters did our drinks eventually arrive. We requested to speak to the manager about the absolutely ********** service, the guy obviously does not have experience and lacks empathy and communication skills, I was not impressed nor convinced that the staff care about their customers. The owners really need to look into this and fix this because it will be sad to travel all the way to V&A waterfront to have a meal when this restaurant is at my doorstep. The food is generally good and something I quite enjoy however the experience is truly poor. Your front end staff are really letting you down, need to really look deeply at the choice of people that you trust to run your restaurant.

Too much hype about Umhlanga but no delivery
The worst, pathetic service, waiting for food, 2 hrs, the argument between waitresses and *****ing of orders. The pathetic management is another thing. Never again. All watched by the customers. Too much thunder, too little rain about the eating houses in Umhlanga. Service everywhere is pathetic. Rather go to mozambik, Galleria or other eateries in Galleria. You would be treated good

Bad attitude and terrible service
I regularly visit mozambik west rand near clearwater mall with my partner to purchase food and normally arrive late since I am in business and hardly have time to do anything personal during the day. On the 23rd of April I arrived at 9:00pm and was allowed to buy the platter for two sides and drinks regardless of the time and the amount of food we purchased common sense should tell the water and manager that we can't finish it in an hour. As we where eating where we're apprcahed by a very unpleasant short dark in complexion men who claimed to be the manager and he started harassing us as we where eating and told us that he has to close the restaurant and that he cannot wait for us to finish because we might rob him as he is alone in the store. That did not sit very well as we regularly visit mozambik and the staff knows us well and they did not advise us on that day to rather do a take away. Ever since that day I have never been to Mozambik again as the service and attitude received from that individual was way out of line. I would like to report this issue even though it's a a month or two later to bring to your attention and let you know that as customers who spend a 1000 rands and more everytime we come to eat we don't deserve to be treated like hooligans by someone who looks like one himself and very unfriendly to staff. I have previously dealt with Moses from the same branch and never had issues but with this short dark in complexion idiot he made it very unpleasant and the look he also gives to his customers its just not on and very pathetic. I am dismayed and everytime I want to visit the restaurant I think of this idiot and choose to go elsewhere. Also on that day when he gave us terrible service the food was also not up to scratch and seemed burnt specially the calamari.
