Matrix mix Telematics
I bought a Toyota HILUX Legend 2.8 GD-6 rs d/c and as I needed a tracking system for insurance purposes matrix was the only tracking system available for fitment on the particular day. I had the matrix beamie including a panic alert remote fitted at radio craft in Benoni witch was closest to me. The system was fitted and tested and was in working order. I asked them to email me a certificate of installation for the insurance. This is where my nightmare with Matrix started. (1) The certificate was emailed to me on the Wednesday afternoon, the Same day as the fitment. I forwarded it to budget as soon as I got it. On the Friday two days after fitment I received an email from budget insurance in which they said that the details of my vehicle on the certificate of installation from Matrix was incorrect and I have till 12pm on the same Friday night to resend another certificate with the correct details or my insurance policy with Budget will revert to a third party only insurance. I admit I didn't check that the certificate was correct before I sent it to my insurance, as I took it for granted it would be correct. I open the email from Matrix and saw that the correct information on the certificate was the make and vin no. of my vehicle. The details on certificate stated the following Toyota HILUX V6 d/c 4x4. I immediately went to Matrix at Benoni radio craft and showed the Matrix consultant the errors on the fitment certificate and the email from Budget insurance. He apologized for their mistake and assured me they would email me another certificate with the correct details before the end of his working day. I never received the certificate and it completely slipped my mind as I had a hectic day. (2) I promised my grandson I would go and watch him play soccer on the Saturday morning at Virgin active sports grounds in Bedford view. On arriving at the sports ground I decided to leave my fhone, wallet ext. in my vehicle in case I might lose it running up ad down the soccer field encouraging my grandson who is five jrs old. After the soccer math was over I said goodbye and went to my vehicle. I found my vehicle approximately 50 meters from where I parked it and when I got to it I realized someone had broken into it and tried to ***** it, and for some reason abandoned their efforts. As I got into the vehicle I noticed a lot of electrical wires hanging from under the dashboard and my fhone, wallet ext was gone. I was in shock and disbelief and it took me a few minutes to try and start my vehicle to no available. In my state I luckily realized that I have Matrix panic remote and saw it was still in my console. I pressed the button probably 50 times thinking that Matrix would send someone to investigate. This was at approximately 10.30 am and I waited and kept on pressing the emergency button till after 12 am and realized no one is coming. To make long story short I eventually got hold of someone to help me get going. (3) The Monday morning early I personaly went to Matrix at Benoni radio craft and asked the consultant to find out why Matrix did not respond after I pressed the emergency button many times. He could not give an explanation and told he will have to get someone to investigate. I went back the Monday afternoon and he said the feedback he got is that they did receive the panic alert and tried to contact me and my fhone was off. They then tried calling my emergency contact which is my son and he didn't answer, and they decided to leave it and see if their was any further response from me as it is very expensive to send someone. I was in shock and totally flabbergasted, and could not believe what I was hearing. After a heated debate mainly from myself I told him to immediately remove their units from my vehicle and cancel my contract with them with immediate effect. (4) I went Toyota and got a price to replace all the damaged parts which came to R16,000 and then I only realized that if whoever tried to ***** my vehicle had gotten away I would not have received one cent from my insurance due to the incompetence and negligence of Matrix. (5) I kept on receiving accounts and threats to blacklist me and hand me over from Matrix and i emailed them that I canceled my contract personally within 7 days and they said I can only cancel it via email. (6) Today I decided I had enough of Matrix threatening me and decided to against my better judgment to pay them in full, wich I have done. I am not a legal fundy, but as far as I'm concerned I should not have had to pay them as they broke the contract with me by not responding to my panic alert, a service with Matrix that you pay for. I have most of the emails including the incorrect fitment certificate emails in my possession.
It goes without saying that I will never do any business with Matrix again!!
