For more than a year, Mix Telematics has been debiting me for non functioning tracking device, and don't want to cancel my month-to-month subscription
I took a three year tracking device contract with Mix Telematics on 18 Sep 2019. On 21 Jul 2022 (still in-contract) I called Mix to test the device – I was told that the device was not responding (failed test). They then sent me a mail saying that they had arranged for a repair with a fitment centre that was about 50km away (but they came to me during the initial installation of the device). They said I had to go there on a week day because the fitment was not operating on weekends.
I later called in again to follow up, and was then told that the device was responding (conflicting, Mix’d statements). I was then advised to install their mobile app and use it to test the device – this app was always giving positive results.
On 18 Oct 2023 I called Mix, with the purpose of giving them a new account that to be debited going forward – but I decided to first test the device, using the phoning-in approach. The results of that was different from what I get on their mobile app – I was informed that the device was not responding, and that I would be contacted for repairs. After a week of no further communication from Mix, I decided to cancel my month-to-month subscription. I called in and was given the email address to send my cancelation notice to (***), where I had since sent my cancelation notice to.
I seeing that I did not get any cancellation response from Mix, and that I was still being invoiced, I called in for more than once, and each time was transferred to the “Cancellation dept.”, who would not pick the calls. I took a screenshot of the last call, which lasted for almost 32 minutes. Because I had already changed my bank account as a result of a *****ulent Vodacom account, Mix could no longer debit me – and they decided to hand my account over to MBD.
