Mitchell's Plain District Hospital is one of the Horrible Hospitals

I am writing this email to express my dissatisfaction with the unprofessional behaviours, ill treatment, and conduct unbecoming of your staff at the Mitchell’s Plain District Hospital yesterday the 26th of December 2018. I brought my wife Monica Kamfer to the hospital yesterday at about 12:00pm in the afternoon as she was complaining of pains in her umbilical cord as she had an operation in 2015 in the same hospital for sterilisation. When we arrived I saw that this is going to be a long a day as it was full and decided to go get my wife a folder and brought it to nurse Landu as she was the nurse in that charge that day. My wife was crying due to pain in her umbilical cord. We sat in the uncomfortable chairs from 12:00pm until 17:30pm without being served. I decided to speak to nurse Landu and ask her what is the procedure as Dr. Marlon Willemse is calling patience which came after us. She answered that she has put our folders inside the doctors’ offices and it’s the prerogative of the doctor to decide who to see.

Due to many hours falling without service and my wife complaining of pain I decided to ask for pain ****ers no one gave attention. Dr. Marlon Willemse came out with an attitude asking us and the patients that he heard we were complaining, his facial expression was like we are not human beings or patients. He stopped production and gave us a stair, I asked him doctor why exactly are you serving patients who came after us. His answer was he didn’t need to be here as there are other patients in Trauma who need special care then us and my wife, and also said his been at work from 5 o’clock. I told him this is not the way to answer patients and that was very unprofessional of him. He shut the door at us and decided to leave us there hanging. Nurse Landu shouted at my wife in pain and said to her why is she speaking now all of sudden just because I the husband decided to raise the issue. I founded this to be very rude and unbecoming as they exchanged words. How do you do that as a professional to sick patients.

We waited and the night staff decided to intervene and re-arrange the folders, at about 22:00pm 26th December 2018 my wife decided to ask another Dr. called Ramadhan Chunga as why this process is taking too long while she is suffering in pain, Dr. Chunga laughed at my wife Monica Kamfer uttering words like: “his not here to make any favours”. I asked him how can he say that and not even recommend any pain ****ers, and laugh at someone in pain, we exchanged words and security came in to calm the situation. Only at about 23:00pm after threatening them to take this to Health Professional Council then action was taken for us to be served.

It was very unprofessional to be treated is such a way and I would like action to be taken against such behaviours from Dr. Marlon Willemse, Dr. Ramadhan Chunga and Nurse Landu as they demonstrated to us that they don’t care about the public servant. My wife now been admitted to Mitchell’s Plain Hospital and hope that she will cared after nothing wrong will happen because I have escalated this matter as it’s my right to do so.

I also decided to get witnessed that can testify on these incidents who were patience and some escorted their wives:

I trust that my complaint won’t fall on deaf ears and this be give serious attention.
