Mit Mak; hard pass.
My experience;
Saw a car I liked. I had a car to get rid of. I explained this AND the somewhat poor condition of my vehicle to the sales lady as I wanted to sell my car and settle before I took a new one.
Week later, I got a call from a manager to ask how the sales person is doing etc. After singing her praises, I explained that I'm trying to sell my current vehicle - making very clear the condition. I was told by him "why don't you let us make an offer?" Wondering why the sales lady didn't mention this and it took a week for a senior to mention, anyway, brushed it off because I was quite happy that one of their guys could come out and assess the vehicle I had. This was on a Friday. The guy would come out at 08:30 Monday morning to see my car.
Saturday, I arranged for someone to drive all the way out to Pretoria and look at the vehicle for me.
Monday morning. Get a call from the assessor; he's sick, can't make it. I said no worries, get better and come see me. Let the sales lady know that he didn't come out and she wanted me to start signing papers before my vehicle was looked at. I wasn't happy to do this; there was no offer on my vehicle yet.
Monday evening, tells me their vehicle has been sold.
I understand if, for example, someone comes along with cash and takes the car; so what. That's how it goes.
My issue here is not with cars, but with people. Why not tell me sooner that you could send someone and make an offer on my vehicle? Only one guy available to come check the vehicle? Would have saved a ton of time on both sides. Anyway,
Tuesday, asks me if I would be interesed in any other vehicle they had. At this point I didn't really want to deal with Mit Mak anymore and chose to move on.
Later that Tuesday, a message from her. "NEW ARRIVAL" Same year model vehicle, just about DOUBLE the mileage and PLASTERED with stickers ALL over the back. This did not match the caliber of the other vehicles I had seen for sale by them and to date, still have not seen this vehicle on the showroom floor so I can only assume I was being flogged a friends vehicle on the side. This is merely a speculation on my part though, so....Still wondering if this is real or some kind of joke. Or if, perhaps, they thought I was the joke?
Not a good experience. The people who recommended this dealer to me are quite embarrassed that they did so. Silver lining is that I may have dodged a bullet. If this is the behavior before I even take delivery of a vehicle, I am given pause to wonder what their after sales would be like. My vehicle has now been sold. It was driven away so the condition was not as bad as I thought. With a little more funds for deposit and a slightly bigger budget available to me now it's a pity - beautiful Z4 standing on the lot.
