Dispute/Complaint about Mit Mak Motors Pretoria North

On 24 March 2018 I visited Mit Mak Motors (on the advise from a contact), in an attempt to buy a car.

Both Henry (Salesperson) and Bobby ***ner) were extremely friendly and helpful.

I managed to buy a 2013 Kia Rio Sedan with automatic transmission, with a kilometer reading of approx 54800 for the cash price of R179 900, including a 1 year warranty. The vehicle did not have any extras nor add-ons.

On giving info to my broker, for insurance purposes, on the same Saturday of purchase, in the late afternoon, I was informed that the retail value of this vehicle is R137 900. My broker advised me to contact Kia Motors to enquire about the retail value on this car. I immediately drove out to Kia Rio Centurion, where the salesman informed that the retail value on this car, as is, is R129 900, vat inclusive!! The car is a standard model with all the features as is. No additions have been made. If he had to buy this car at this very moment, he would give me no more than R115 900. The salesman further advised that I should contact Mit Mak Motors in order to discuss the possibility of a refund.

The F&I Manager from Mit Mak Motors sent me an email refusing a refund.

Up until 24 April 2018, and even after paying cash for this transaction, Mit Mak Motors had still not had the vehicle registered in my name and I had not received any further communication from them, even after communication to the Salesperson who did the transaction.

I subsequently contacted the MIOSA to lodge a complaint against Mit Mak Motors, stating that I would require Mit Mak Motors to refund me the difference of the sellers price - R179 900 - R137 900 = R42 000, or alternatively take back the car and refund to me, the entire purchase price of R179 900.

The case is being dealt with.

Did Bobby perhaps do me in because I am a woman???
