********* Billing & Refusal to Refund Deposit
We were customers of MidCity Utilities for almost two years and never missed a single payment—we have proof of every transaction. However, now that we have moved and no longer use their services, they are refusing to refund our deposit.
When we initially inquired about the deposit, we were told to fill out a form, which we did. We even agreed that a portion of the deposit could be used for our final month’s water and sanitation bill. Yet, after waiting an entire month with no response, we followed up, only to be falsely told that we are three months behind on payments. This is completely untrue—if we had missed three months of payments, our electricity would have been cut off long ago.
Despite having proof of all payments, MidCity refuses to acknowledge their mistake. Their customer service is extremely rude and unhelpful, showing no interest in resolving the issue. We have had issues with them in the past, and it is clear that they are now making it as difficult as possible to return what is rightfully ours.
This is unacceptable and highly *********. I urge others to be cautious when dealing with MidCity Utilities. We demand that they correct their records and process our deposit refund immediately!
MidCity Utilities takes note of your query. We will provide you with a full reconciliation of your account. In the interim, we wish to bring the following under your attention. You vacated the unit on 01/02/2025. An account was still issued for the consumption period of January 2025, for water and sanitation used during that time. Water and sanitation accounts are “post-paid” accounts, and the statement (202503) was issued on or about the 20th of February 2025. Risk deposit that was held, was transferred over to the final account that was issued. The balance remaining was R21,86 and it was paid out to the designated bank account on the 24th of February. We will email you all the supporting documentation during today. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Nicole Fourie at MidCity Utilities. *** Regards,
