AI Review Summary

Based on recent customer reviews, Midcity Property Services is drawing significant dissatisfaction from tenants and body corporate members. Customers consistently mention concerns around delayed financial statements, disputed billing, prepaid electricity deductions, and slow refunds of deposits. A recurring theme is unresolved maintenance issues such as broken lifts and faulty security doors, alongside frustrations with compliance follow-through and procurement delays. While most feedback leans negative, there is an isolated positive experience where an individual staff member is praised for stepping in with patience, understanding, and proactive follow-up.

Unprofessional/disrespectful/****s

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the extremely unprofessional manner in which my recent rental enquiry and communication with your letting department were handled. I made an enquiry regarding a specific apartment and was informed by your staff that the unit was available. Based on this information, I proceeded to complete and submit the required application and supporting documentation. I also had to make time during my working hours to complete the application because I was under the impression that the property was genuinely available and that my application was being considered. When I subsequently contacted your letting department for feedback, I was informed that the unit had already been taken for some time. I understand that properties can be taken quickly and that circumstances may change. However, what I find unacceptable is being given information that the unit was available, investing my time in completing an application and submitting sensitive documentation, only to later be told that the property was no longer available. When I raised my concern with the woman I spoke to on the telephone, I was simply trying to explain how the situation made me feel and why I believed I had been misled. Instead of acknowledging my frustration or explaining what had happened, I was told, “We never **** to you,” and was accused of intimidating her simply because I was questioning why I had initially been told the property was available. At no point was I threatening or intimidating her. I was expressing my frustration and asking for an explanation. I found it particularly inappropriate that she ultimately stated that whatever she was saying was right and proceeded to terminate the call by hanging up on me. Hanging up on a client who is raising a legitimate complaint is completely unacceptable and demonstrates a serious lack of professionalism and customer service. I am also concerned about the apparent lack of accountability within the letting department. Staff should be able to provide their names, communicate respectfully with prospective tenants, acknowledge mistakes or misunderstandings, and deal with complaints professionally rather than becoming defensive and terminating calls. As a prospective tenant, I deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. My time is valuable, and I should not have to take time away from my work, complete an application and provide documentation based on information that turns out not to be accurate, only to then be spoken to dismissively when I raise my concerns. I hope MidCity takes this complaint seriously. I am not complaining simply because I was unsuccessful in securing a property. I am complaining about the way I was treated and the manner in which the entire process was handled. I expect a professional response from management and not another dismissive interaction.

Bad Bad Service 👎

Everymonth midicty take R285 whenever you buy prepaid electricity everymonth and they say its levies according to my knowledge and levies are payed by landlords..it doesn't end there after taking that amount everymonth the electricity will be disconnected at Kalahari Flats everymonth because the building is owing so how fair is it that they take that amount from us tenants everymonth but still everymonth month electricity will be disconnected..

******* practices

I do not understand why I have to pay a lease of R1925 and inspection fee of R680. Those are costs that must lay with the landlord not a tenant I was told that I have to pay them if I want to rent with them in centurion

Unity Heights Flat deterioration under Midcity watch

After Midcity recently took over our flat Unity Heights there is quite a considerable deterioration in the service we are getting. The most inconveniencing is the lift which when operated from inside can only go up to floor 2 instead of floor 4. The buttons for 3rd and 4th floor are broken. So from ground floor you can only press up to 2nd floor, then you continue on the stairs up to floor 4. Now imagine when you move in and you are bringing in your belongings to floor 4. Calling the Mid city utilities is of no help as they keep on promising to come and fix it but to no avail. As big as the organisation is and yet they ignore their clients. The entrance we use is the man-trap security cubicle booth type. The outside door is getting worn out such that sometimes it fails to close by itself. As long as the outside door remains open, it renders the tagging useless from inside. Many times we have had to wait even up to 20 minutes until someone comes from outside and closes that door first for us to start coming out. It is disheartening and there is noone to fix this issue. The account statements often show figures that are not supposed to be there and i have had to go twice in person and ask the attendants at the offices to fix the bill. I had called 3 times before going in person but could not get assistance on the phone. I call upon the Midcity guys to improve their service. Some issues may be sensitive and may not need to be divulged on a public platform. Disgruntled!!
