***IST MICA MANAGER

I Went Into MICA In Norkem Park A Little Over Three Months Ago To Have My Gas Cylinder Filled. At The Time It Was July And Cold And I Was A Bit Over Five Months Pregnant. I Got There And There Was A Long Line Of People Before Me. I Was Number 21 And They Were Filling Number 7. So The Gentleman Advised I Leave The Cylinder And Get It Tomorrow. The Next Day, I Went Through Something Called PROM (Premature Rapture Of Membrane) And Was Admitted In Fear Of Going Into Early Labour As My Baby Was Too Small... I Got Back From Hospital And Recovery End Of September And Headed Back To MICA To Ask For My Cylinder. I Told The Manager I Lost The Slip But Remember The Details. He Told Me To Come Back With My ID As “Proof” Or “Surety”. On The 7th Of October, I Go Back And Tell Him I’m Here For The Gas. He Tells Me I Can’t Get It Back As I Need To Pay A Fee. I Asked Him Why He Hadn't Informed Of This Before. And He Says There Are a Few Procedures To Be Followed. I Told Him I Didn’t Leave My Gas Cylinder Out Of Negligence Or Forgetfulness, I Was Admitted And That Was Beyond My Control. He Tells Me He Doesn’t Want To Hear All That “Nonsense”. Angry And Appalled I Ask The Colleague Next To Him If He Just Said He “Doesn’t Want To Hear” And He Said He’ll Call The Guy In Charge Of The Gas And He will Help! The Guy Gets There And I Speak To Him. Because He Was Polite And Kind, I Say “I Will Pay The Fee. Where Do I Pay?” He Turns Back To The Manager And He (The Manager) Says “No, I Will Not Give Her The Cylinder” I Tell The Gas Guy That The Manager Was Rude And Mean And Also Quite ***ist And I Refused To Speak To Him. Moreover, The Manager Had Told Me The Gas Manager Is The Only One That Can Authorize The Releasing Of The Gas So I Need Not Speak To Anyone But Him. The Guy In Charge Of The Gas Turns Back To The Manager And Asks If I Should Get My Cylinder And He Says “No, She Will Not Get It Back, She Doesn't Want It” Understand, I Am On My Way To Work And Stopped There Because I Had My ID In The Bag. The Guy In Charge Of The Gas Suggests I Go “Beg The Manager For My Cylinder” And My Response Was: I Want My Cylinder, I Don’t Have To Beg Anyone For It! To Which The Manager Responds From Afar: I Have The Power To Give You The Cylinder And You’re Not Getting It. I Was Shocked. Beyond Words. I Left, Very Emotional And Got Into My Car, Leaving For Work - Without My Cylinder. Is It Power That Stops Us From Delivering Service Customers Pay For? Since When Have Customer Service Providers Lost Empathy? Does It Not Matter That I Was Hospitalized For A Issue Beyond My Control? Is It Because I Am Female In A Hardware Store That I Don’t Deserve Respect Or Proper Treatment? ***ist, Rude And Very Unhelpful! All I Can Say To Describe My Experience There. And If You’re Female, Do Yourself A Favour, Don’t Go To MICA Norkem Park Because You’re Judged By Your Ability To Beg A Man For What Belongs To You. Disgusting! Especially In The Times We Live In.
