Useless, pathetic absence of service by MetroFibre
I have been waiting for months in anticipation for the installation of fibre in our complex, Magaliespark, 185 Gryshout Rd, Magalieskruin, Pretoria. Eventually after months I was contacted by the Vodacom representative who confirmed that fibre is ready to be connected. For assurance I personally checked on the Vodacom coverage map as well as MetroFibre's coverage map, yes, indeed it was eventually so. I signed the contract with Vodacom and my rooter was delivered. After a week of waiting for the activation by a MetroFibre agent I phoned them. I have the mail where they confirmed the guy would be there on the Saturday, well nobody pitched, waited half a day on Monday, nobody pitched, so I phoned again. First they told me there is no order, then after I pointed out the email I received, they suddenly did see an order, but now it was scheduled for the Tuesday. I asked for the installer's number, but apparently I am not allowed to have it. So Tuesday came and went, again I phoned. The lady confirmed the installer will phone me. Late on the Tuesday afternoon he phoned and told me, he has a slot open on Wednesday at 12h00. I was over the moon...at last. Ben arrived before 12h00, very promptly and confirmed he was on holiday and there was no way that he could have done it the previous Saturday as confirmed by the lady at Metrofibre. Ben asked me where the TP (termination point) was, I showed him a box outside against my wall on the second level. He confirmed that that did not look like the boxes MetroFibre installs. For him to do the activation, he would need a TP. He sent a mail to his office in which he copied me, explaining the situation to them. This mail I followed up with my own email and asked for the personal email for Steve Booysen. Already I had enough of this to and from by MetroFibre and needed the CEO to know about it. Up to today I am still waiting for Steve's email address. Not long after my mail I was contacted by a Caryl from MetroFibre, very friendly she assured me that my problem will be sorted in no time. She will get a MetroFibre contractor to come and do the TP the next morning at 9h00. Before 9h00 the next morning Gert was there but was very shocked and puzzled when I showed him the box against the wall on the outside, high up on the second level. He confirmed that MetroFibre do not install the outside boxes so high, but he will make a plan. He phoned for another guy to bring a long ladder to reach the box. In the meantime they drilled a hole through my wall, attached some conduit to the box and installed the TP in my unit. When the long ladder arrived they only had to do the "splicing". To their surprise it was not a MetroFibre box but an Openserve box which they could not connect to. They were totally confused, as head office confirmed they are in the complex. They waited for hours outside for feedback only to be told eventually that yes...they are not in the complex. I was as confused as they were and incredibly disappointed as I have been without internet now for more than a week as I cancelled my Telkom in anticipation. Again Caryl was there to explain and assured me this would be sorted. On the 8th of May I received a call from a certain Amelia from MetroFibre, explaining the process to me when I want fibre and they then have to go through the whole process in all the approvals, surveys etc etc and she estimates it to take around 6 to 8 weeks. I had to interrupt her to explain that although she sounds like she is doing me a huge favor by doing all this effort for me, I am actually furious. Firstly because she had no idea what the circumstances were and assumed I am just a new applicant who is now very unreasonable. I tried to put her in the picture by explaining I am not a new customer, there is an actual hole through my wall, some conduit and an unconnected TP to an Openserve box. She categorically stated that MetroFibre will never do something like that, making me out as a ****. I offered to take a picture of the installation and send it to her. When I told her that the coverage map on MetroFibre's website clearly indicated fibre in my complex, she stated that is just a mere glitch on the website. Obviously by then I totally lost it with this rude, ******** woman, thinking she knows, while she had no clue. We hang up. I then phone Caryl again, explaining the weird call I received from this rude woman, Caryl confirmed that Amelia was not on top of my case and could not understand why this woman actually phoned me. Caryl once again confirmed, that she is dealing with my case and it will be sorted. well these calls were on the 8th of May. Today is the 22nd of May, precisely 2 weeks later and not a single word ever again from MetroFibre's side and another 2 weeks without internet and as we are told by government to do business from home...how am I suppose to do it. This is terrible service from a company such as MetroFibre, indicating on your website that you offer fibre and you are not even in the complex and a rude ******** lady tells me I am lying and the website is a mere glitch. Obviously no further follow up or assisting in getting me internet. I had to decide today to get internet and decided on RAIN, which is cheaper as well and faster. I need the public to be aware of this. And I am still waiting for Steve Booysens personal email address.
