*****ulent Billing and Misuse of Personal Information by MetroFibre

In 2024, MetroFibre installed fibre lines underground in the Lyttelton area, Centurion, Pretoria. Their representatives went door to door offering fibre packages. I expressed interest but clearly informed the consultant that I had an active contract with Level 7, which is still valid to this day.

The MetroFibre consultant assured me that no activation would occur unless I submitted a cancellation letter from Level 7. She stated that the router would be installed, but the service would remain inactive until I provided that documentation.

Weeks passed with no follow-up. Concerned about the personal information I had shared, I contacted MetroFibre directly. I was again assured that the router was installed but not activated. My Level 7 service remained active and unchanged.

To my shock, I received a statement from MetroFibre requesting payment for July 2024. I immediately requested cancellation, as I had never authorized activation or agreed to any billing. Despite this, MetroFibre has continued to bill me monthly for a service I never used or agreed to.

Each month, I requested proof of a sales call or a signed contract. Months later, MetroFibre finally cancelled the account but continued to demand payment. They even sent me a so-called “signed contract” — which contains a name with incorrect spelling and handwriting that is clearly not mine. I raised this red flag immediately.

MetroFibre acknowledged the issue and promised to investigate internally and stop sending statements. It has now been nearly two months, and I have received no feedback, yet they continue to demand payment.

This is *****ulent activity. MetroFibre is using clients’ personal details to activate services without consent and then aggressively pursuing payments. The public must be made aware of these ********* and potentially ******* practices and not adhering to the POPIA ACT.

I will also be escalating this matter to the Ombudsman.

Reviewer Update
Good day,

I am writing to follow up on a complaint I submitted against MetroFibre on 12 June 2025. To date, I have not received any acknowledgment or feedback regarding the matter.

My concern relates to what appears to be *****ulent sales practices and requesting money from customers.
This is deeply troubling, and the lack of response from your customer service team only adds to the frustration. Despite numerous attempts to engage with your support channels, there has been no meaningful assistance or accountability.

It is disheartening to see such disregard for customer concerns, especially when these issues may be affecting many others. I urge MetroFibre’s leadership, including the CEO, to take these complaints seriously and to address the growing dissatisfaction reflected in public reviews.
