This is maybe why you having issues with line speed ... SHOCKING !!!
It is my first time ever posting twice on a hello Peter complaint but I thought I would share the shocking response I received to my issue (title 1000mb line but barely getting 3 mb ), I was told to run a speed test , which I did and sent them the information, I received a response (will post response in comments) stating that the speed test was ran over wifi and that I need to physically plug a cable into the router and into the PC and the PC must have an ssd drive , so in order to run a speed test I have to move a whole computer into the kitchen because that is were most of the routers are situated to run a speed test so that they can log a fault , this still doesn't explain why a fault can be logged with the wifi connection we use to get about 20 mb maybe more on the wifi before upgrading and now we only getting 3.77mb . But I will do as asked even though it is inconvenient and I need to go out to purchase a cable .
Second issue , when upgrading our line the sale consultant specifically said that there was an issue with the old routers (big black box) and they need to change and a technicians would be out with in a week to change it , guess what ??? No technician ever showed . I never received a response regarding this issue.
So what I have taken from this response is that your line speed might be faulty because you have to directly plug a cable from router to device which consultants and technicians don't mention to tell you...OH and if using a laptop or PC it should have an ssd drive .
1.1 Restart routers and unplug from power for 15-30 secs.
1.2 Restart computer
1.3 Must use a CAT5e or CAT6 LAN cable.
2. Plug in directly into the route with an ethernet cable
3. Don’t have any other device connected whilst testing.
4. Make sure you are not doing updates.
5. Clear your browsing cache.
6. Must use local speed test https://www.speedtest.net/
7. Speed &duplex set on the Network Card to 1000Mbps ,Auto or 1Gbps Auto.
8. Only use a cable directly connected to the router, not Wi-Fi.
9. PC drivers must be SSD. We thank you for your patience in this regard.

I apologize for the frustration caused.
Please note that a LAN speed test is a requirement when logging a speed fault, as this plays a significant role in troubleshooting your reported issue.
We look forward to your feedback so we may assist with resolving your service difficulties.
Kind Regards
Marilize
