Steer Clear of Metrofibre!
Following repeated issues with the speed of our service with Webafrica, we decided to transfer to Metrofibre while they were running a special during March 2026. Metrofibre also installed and owns ALL the fibre lines around Pietermaritzburg and Hilton, where we live. We completed the application on-line and received confirmation of the contract from Metrofibre on 30 March. We then gave notice, the obligatory 30 days, to Webafrica. Then the hell started - the service providers used by Metrofibre have no manners, and one particular lady should urgently learn how to speak to clients. It was clear that the Call Centre Agents made no notes on the system because we repeatedly got calls asking the same questions, and they do not fami****ise themselves with data on the system already. We had to explain everything to each caller, from scratch. Then, we were told that we do not qualify for the Special, which was actually still valid until 31 March, because the installation had not been completed. What?? Still, we pushed ahead. About a week before the end of April, when we still had no router, no installation date, with another two public holidays coming up, and no "special", we decided to just stay with Webafrica. We informed both parties accordingly. Low and behold: 8 May, we are disconnected. After an entire day on the line with Webafrica, they eventually "see" that Metrofibre disconnected us and confirmed that we are fully active on their side. How is this even legal? How can Metrofibre disconnect the ISP of another company, simply because they own the line in the area?? Did a Technician receive a job card weeks ago? Or do they do this, regularly?
