Poor customer service and misinformation
On the 28/06/22 I called MetroFibre to enquire about coverage and their packages at the new complex that I would occupy on the 30/06/22. The unit is said to be fibre ready with bulk installations done by Metrofibre. I spoke to a lady in the sales department by the name of Thembeka Lediga who had confirmed that there is indeed coverage in my complex and that she can assure me that I should have connectivity by the 01/07/22. I was emailed the necessary forms and submitted my application with the required documents. On the 01/07/22, I received a text from an installer who is a subcontractor to Metrofibre confirming my address for the installation to take place. I then noticed my address was captured incorrectly by Thembeka. I immediately informed her of the error and had her rectify it of which pushed my installation forward because of the amendment to the address. On the 04/07/22, I followed up with Thembeka on the progress and she informed me that it will take 3 to 7 business days for the installation. This came as no sense of urgency as the error was on her side which led to the delay in my installation. Her responsibility was to escalate the error and prioritize the installation to not inconvenience the customer. She then gave me feedback later in the day that the block that I am situated in is an incomplete phase and has not gone live therefore there will be a further delay. I then questioned the logic behind the phase being incomplete if i am living in it with a Metrofibre box mounted onto the wall in my unit. She seemed uninformed and was not certain as to how to respond. It is now the 06/07/22, she has not made an attempt to follow up on the situation and contact me to give me feedback. I spoke to a gentlemen by the name of Barend who has been following up an assisting me. Whoever he has been escalating the matter to has also been feeding him misleading information that I will be connected to the internet in a matter of hours yet I had no router or installation done. I have received feedback from the developer that there are many other occupants having the same issue with Metrofibre. This is by far one of the most frustrating experiences as I work from home and I am unable to do so without a source of internet. Furthermore, for such a large service provider, your customer skills are extremely poor. You rather lie to a customer to try and mitigate the situation than actually doing what is required and resolving the issue. Thembeka's customer care is highly questionable and she should definitely learn some skills from Barend who has been extremely helpful with the matter.
