GIVEN THE RUN AROUND AND STILL NO SERVICE

While Metrofibre were installing the fibre network in my area, I requested that a termination point be installed at my place, which it was.

Because I have a Metrobibre installed network, I decided that it might be a good idea to have MetroFibre as my internet service provider as well. I thought that by having the same ISP as the company that installed the network issues would get sorted out.

Not so.

Last Thursday (14 October), Deon (who is subcontracting to Metrofibre in Gqeberha) came to install my router and connect my service. He could not measure any signal at the termination point. He installed the router and told me that someone would have to come over to my place to check the connection.

On 15 October, I was contacted by Soekie (also a sub-contractor to MetroFibre somewhere) requesting the serial number for the router. I sent it to her via WhatsApp. She rep****: “This is perfect, yes we can connect you now. Im going to escalate it now to activations”.

Nothing happened, and no one followed up with me.

This morning, 19 October, I contacted Soekie to ask when my fibre would be connected. She rep****: “Your device is faulty, if you can just give me the CXNK number again, let me make sure that we have the correct number please” I sent her the information again. I also phoned Deon and he came over to my place and took more measurements. As before he could not measure any signal. Deon phoned Soekie to inform her of the situation. Clearly she did not believe me when I told her the same last Thursday.

She told Deon: “our system can’t pick up your device, it says not discoverable”.

I asked Deon and Soekie whether there was someone who works for MetroFibre that I could speak to and get this sorted out.

I was not given a number.

So, Deon tells me that he cannot measure a signal, Soekie is telling me that my device is faulty, and I am sitting without a network.

No one can tell me what the next step will be to get me connected and by when it will be done.

Perhaps after this post someone WHO WORKS FOR METROFIBRE will give me an answer.

Yes, we can connect you OR sorry we cannot get you connected.

Unfortunately, where I live, MetroFibre installed the fibre network so the only other option is back to Telkom ADSL.

Reviewer Update
It is beyond my comprehension why in order to be heard as customers, one has to put up a post / review on hellopeter with some companies.

A few hours after my review, my fibre was sorted out and is now up and running.
It took about 30 minutes to sort out the problem.
When MetroFibre installed my termination point, they did not connect it to the network (the connection box outside on the pavement).

Thank you hellopeter for providing us with a medium to air our grievances when all avenues to get it sorted out with the supplier have been exhausted.
