Extremely Cruel & Inconsiderate

Dear Metro Fibre and Mweb,

I am writing to bring to your attention my utter dissatisfaction with your service. For three months we have suffered intermittent connectivity issues. In the last two months we have been without service for more than 21 days (and counting).

Metro Fibre has sent two different technicians to our home in the past two days. Each inspected the problem and said they could not do anything. The last technician, who attended today, said he had been sent to draft a report. My question is: what were the two previous visits for if, on the third visit, you suddenly realized a report needed to be generated? Is this your way of delaying the restoration of our connection? In addition, it is not only our home affected — six to seven other homes within our complex are also without connectivity.

The technician reported that the issue lies with Link Africa. We have been told this since January 2026 and still nothing has been done by either Mweb or Metro Fibre to remedy the situation.

Mweb is taking our money monthly, and at an exorbitant rate. Of late we received notification that prices on your services will be increasing. Yet you do not consider it urgent enough to ensure your clients are connected. What kind of customer service is this? How long must we continue to experience these problems? Surely if you cannot provide a service you should not be taking payment for a non-service. That is theft.

We have exhausted all options to reach you. We have called on numerous occasions, spending money on airtime to make these calls. My parents are over 70 years old and rely on the internet to stream entertainment. Making them chase you through lengthy hold times on calls is inconsiderate and an abuse of people who use their pensions to pay for a service they do not receive.

Have a heart. I am not sure whether I will receive a response, as my previous emails went unanswered, but this is my frustration. I wish I had a larger platform to expose how you ***** from paying customers — in this case, the elderly. I only hope one of you reading this can imagine how you would feel if your elderly parents were treated this way and forced through the mill just to receive a service they are paying for with their hard-earned money. Have some shame. Be considerate.

Dear Sibonisile, this is the response we have been receiving since January 2026 and still nothing has materialised from your interaction with Link Africa. I really really pray this is not another empty promise. Today is day 8 with no connectivity. Last month we had no connectivity for more than 2 weeks. Let’s break this cycle of empty promises, please.
