Constant outages in the Kouga area - avoid if you work from home
Constant outages in the Kouga area - avoid if you work from home
I'm a software developer who relies on stable internet to do my job. MetroFibre has made that nearly impossible.
The internet goes down so frequently that I'd honestly be faster flying to Joburg to deliver my work in person. Every time I log a ticket, it gets closed without any real resolution. The problem comes back days later, and the cycle repeats.
How many outages does it take before MetroFibre acknowledges there's a systemic infrastructure problem in the Kouga area? How many tickets do I need to log before someone actually fixes it?
We pay premium prices for a service that is simply not being delivered. If you're in this area and rely on your connection for work, look elsewhere. MetroFibre is the epitome of why people resent their ISPs.
I expect a permanent fix—not another temporary band-aid or ticket closure.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for clearly outlining the impact these recurring outages have had on your ability to work. We understand how critical a stable connection is, especially when you rely on it daily for your profession.
Your feedback regarding repeated outages in the Kouga area, recurring ticket closures, and the lack of a lasting resolution has been noted. We are actively reviewing the history of faults in this area to determine whether there is an underlying infrastructure-related issue contributing to the repeated service interruptions. Your concern about temporary fixes versus a permanent solution is understood and forms part of this investigation.
Our team will be in contact to provide feedback once further information is available, and to ensure the matter is addressed with the appropriate level of priority. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and affording us the opportunity to investigate the matter further.
Best regards,
Marilize

MetroFibre Complaints & Escalations
Thank you for your response, but I must be direct: this is now the second reply I've received from MetroFibre that contains no actionable commitments.
You mention you are "actively reviewing" and "will be in contact once further information is available" - but you've provided no timeline, no explanation of root cause, and no commitment to service credits despite eight outages since 1 January.
I've heard "we're investigating" before. The pattern has been: outage, ticket logged, vague response, ticket closed, repeat. Nothing changes.
I need specifics:
• What is causing the recurring issues in Kouga/Paradise Beach?
• When will it be permanently resolved?
I want this resolved - not managed.

I received an almost identical reply from Sibonisile in October 2025 - four months ago - promising that my concerns had been "escalated to relevant teams for thorough review."
Nothing changed. Since then, I've experienced eight outages in 2026 alone.
The pattern is clear:
• October 2025: "Escalated to relevant teams" - nothing happened
• February 2026: "Actively reviewing" - still no timeline, no root cause, no compensation
I've been patient for months. If I don't receive a substantive response with actual commitments within 7 days, I will proceed with an ICASA complaint. I have documented every outage and retained all correspondence - including the October promise that led nowhere.
