Terrible service, overpriced frames and lenses, ***********.

I went to Mellins Cresta because my medical aid gives me discount at this specific branch. Unfortunately I cannot recommend them. First of all, I know my eyesight had gone very bad this year, but the optometrist tried to assure me that my eyesight did not worsen too much. I now sit with glasses that are extremely frustrating to me, a bent frame as they messed it up quite badly, and worst of all, I initially had to wait over an hour to get a quote on new lenses. When I finally got the quote, it was almost R6000, and that was just for the lenses, apparently with anti scratch etc. At the end I opted for lenses with no special features and still had to pay around R3000. This is so ironic as I can go to a boutique optometrist in a better area and get lenses and a beautiful frame for a much more reasonable price. I was actually considering getting a new frame, but their frames are completely overpriced and there's nothing special to choose from, even if you go to the "designer" frames.

Once I got my glasses, I also realised that they had switched the lenses, so I went back to ask them to please switch them around for my frames so I can actualy see. Instead of doing that, I was basically interogated, assuming that I did not do the eye test correctly and that the problem lies with me. I've had glasses now for 4 years, so I think I know what I need in order to see. Again, after an hour, they finally switched the lenses around, but unfortunately bent my glasses to such an extent that it has actually fallen off a couple of times and I now sit with scratches on my frame. I will definitely not be going back to them again.
