Mellins iStyke are breaking the law
I was tested for a pair of muktifocals in December. The total cost was close to R 9,000. My medical aid paid R5,000. After the medical aid paid, I was contacted by Mellins I.Style Mall of Africa, saying that I had to come in and be ‘measured for the lenses’. I told the lady I would come in when I got the chance. I have not had a chance to go yet, but last week I got a rude SMS (not even the courtesy of a phone call), telling me to ‘urgently call Mellins re my account’. Now. I have not received these glasses. I have not even been measured for them. Yet I have already paid more than 50% of the bill, WITHOUT receiving a single thing from Mellins Mall of Africa. This is clearly a breach of the Consumer Protection Act. How dare you start making demands for payment for an item that you have not actually made yet, nor, more importantly, provided to me, the client. I have now received two such rude SMS messages, yet no phone call, AND NO GOODS. My replies to the SMSes I received do not get answered, yet Mellins iStyke further demand that I use my time and money to ‘urgently contact them’ about a supposed debt that is actually ******* under SA law. Be careful people. Mellins iStyle are ****** who threaten and abuse clients whilst hiding behind the guise of providing a (very expensive) service). I’m certainly going to be changing optometrists. Shame on you Mellins. This is a very poor show. I suggest you contact me and make amends and repair the damage without further ******* and abusive SMS messages.
