I paid for nothing yet I am on the edge of getting blacklisted
I purchased a pair of spectacles at mellins menlyn store on the 01st of December 2018 for an amount of R10 698.00 excluding eye test. I paid R5000.00 cash as 50% down payment for the spectacles plus an additional R600.00 for eye test on the same day. I was promised that I will be called to fetch my spectacles in two weeks’ time. My idea was to use the spectacles over the December 2018 holidays. I never heard from the store since December until February 2019, when I went to the Store and to my surprise the order was still not placed. After a series of apologies, the optician promised that I will be called for collection by mid-February and this time without fail, which did not happen. In March there about I was called for collection, when I got to the store the spectacles could not be found. During the same time the store submitted to Bonitas a claim for an amount of R14 513.00 for spectacles delivered to me. As if that was not enough, fast forward August 2019 spectacles are still not delivered, yet I am getting tonnes and tonnes of phone calls, emails and numerous smss from debt collectors (barrett and associates) on behalf of mellins i.style demanding a sum of R 15 500.00 for spectacles supp**** to me. How ridiculous?
Believe you me, this is the worst customer service incident I have ever experienced in my entire 40 years of living. I have done all I could to have this resolved to no luck, all my efforts have proven to be fruitless. What I have realized is that there is serious management crisis in the mellins group as a whole, no one seems to be in charge of events of this nature. Every day I speak to a new person with a different set of excuses. I wonder what the directors do? Just sleep and spend medical aid money dubiously earned. All they know is money money money and zero service.
