Handed over to lawyers for spectacles i never coll

I have been using Mellins opticians at Bayside mall for a number of years.2 years ago in 2013 I visited them for a new set of glasses.they did the quotation for me and I said I would pay on collection.i called in the very next day to cancel and the girl at the reception confirmed it was cancelled.2 years later (2015) I started receiving calls from some lawyers saying I have been handed over to them for spectacles I never collected which I cancelled the next day.last week they send me a later threatening to take me to court.I went to Merlins bayside for some answers only to find it closed till further notice.can somebody at Merlins explain to me how is it possible to hand over a client for spectacles she don't have,of which I called in to cancelled.I am so dissapointment with this service.
