Poor Customer Service

Please guys, don’t buy Mellerware or Creative Housewares products if you don’t live in a big city! I had a Mellerware Glass Vision Kettle which started to make a horrible burning smell after a year of use. No amount of cleaning would take the taste and smell away. Before you blame my water, its perfect in my R100 plastic kettle. I contacted Creative Housewares who said they would send a Rep to collect my kettle as their service centres are in Cape Town, JHB and Durban. This took 6 months and loads of phonecalls and emails! My kettle went off to the service centre, where they switched it on and boiled it and sent it back saying it works. No help for me for the burning smell and terrible tasting water! I contacted the Rep again who got back to me a month later to say she was no longer allowed to help me and I should take the kettle back to where I bought it for a refund. Only problem is that I bought the kettle from Takealot and Creative Housewares is still sitting with my original receipt from when the kettle was in their service department! Several phonecalls later, i have had NO feedback and my warranty has now expired! THANKS FOR NOTHING CREATIVE HOUSEWARES! Anybody in the market for a beautiful glass Vision kettle which makes your coffee taste like gunpowder??!!!

Their plan seems to be to stall you until your product is out of warranty. Despite waiting six months for them to fetch my kettle and another six for them to decide whether or not to return my receipt (still not) they are now unable to help because its “out of warranty”. Don’t buy Mellerware or Creative Housewares - they don’t care!

Creative Housewares the customer service agent, Garth, in Cape Town has told me that no more can be done for me as my kettle is now out of warranty. Nobody returns your calls, you have to keep phoning the Customer Service Department and when you can get hold of them, are told that no decision has been made - I wish I had recorded how many calls were made over the year that I tried to get this resolved.. Garth assured me that my kettle was rigorously tested in the service department - and no burning smell was picked up - an outright lie, because you can smell it just by opening the kettle. Shall I start using the thing again and then sue when it explodes?
