MEERKAT ARE ****S AND PREYS ON INNICENT PEOPLE

I have been a customer with Meerkat for 4years. I never defaulted. They sold me on a 5-year term. They also didn't disclose their exorbitant hidden costs upon entering the contract which is approximately R50 000 p/y. That money goes to them not your creditors. The worst thing is that now that I am reaching my 5th year, they have now added an additional 5 years keeping me under Debt Review for a further 5 years. The worst part of it all is that Managing Director David O'Brien refuses to accept any responsibility on the company's negligence to properly inform me as a customer. DO NOT TRUST MEERKAT TO HANDLE YOUR FINANCES. I WILL CONTINUE TO WRITE REVIEWS UNTIL THEY ACKNOWLEGE THE MESS UP THEY HAVE MADE AND HOW THIS NEGATIVELY IMPACTS ME. I AM AN HONEST HARD-WORKING PERSON AND COMPANIES LIKE THEM PREY ON PEOPLE IN DISTRESS. MY EXPECTATION IS NOT UNRFEASONALBME. IT'S FOR THEM TO ADMIT FAULT AND HONOR THE AGREEMENT MADE

Hi Zeenat. Thanks for your feedback.

As you are aware we are already dealing with your personal financial matters via email. However, as you have chosen to publish your feedback here. I feel compelled to comment.

Meerkat has helped thousands of clients to manage their debt just as we are helping you.

All relevant documentation regarding your plan was sent to you once the court order was granted. This included the repayment terms as well as details of our industry-standard regulated fees. The court order is the very definition of the “AGREEMENT MADE”, and should be the basis for reasonable expectations.

You have been receiving monthly statements regarding your repayments from our Payment Distribution Agent. This is to eliminate any surprises during the plan. I assume that you have not engaged with this important information.

We are happy to continue to assist you in administering your debt repayments as per the granted court order, but we cannot be expected to repay your debt on your behalf. That is an unreasonable expectation.

If you are unhappy with our service, you are welcome to transfer to another Debt Counsellor, but please note the terms of the granted court order will still stand.

Regards
David O’Brien.
