Worst Medical aid in South Africa

Worst medical aid! I switched from Bonitas to Medihelp this year because according to their website the benefits looked good- only on paper. Their 100% scheme tariff ended up being LESS THAN 50% of my operation after I visited a designated service provider, I had my admission pre-approved and had all the correct references. I can not emphasize enough, their 100% is NEVER the full amount it is ridiculous where do they come up with their 100% tariff? I doubt ANY medical professional asks their pathetic 100% rate which means you will always be left with a co-payment. Bottom line their contracted doctors can ask any amount even though they form part of Medihelp's network they are still free to charge whatever rates they choose to. Rather go to Bonitas their network actually has to charge network rates and you will rarely be left with a co-payment.

The other issue is they fund your Prescribed Minimum Benefits from your available day to day and savings which means all your savings will be depleted before they cover the PMB which EVERY medical aid must cover according to the CMS rules and regulations, VERY convenient way to ensure they don't pay for all your doctor, specialist and chronic meds the first 2 or 3 months. Only after they depleted your savings account will it get paid by them. Terrible, terrible medical aid. I wish I could terminate my membership but unfortunately, I can't because I need cover and will have to pay back everything I used from my day-to-day benefits and savings account, counting the months till December. avings which means all your savings will be depleted before they cover the PMB which EVERY medical aid must cover according to the CMS rules and regulations, VERY convenient way to ensure they don't pay for all your doctor, specialist and chronic meds the first 2 or 3 months.
