Unfair Billing & Ignored Communication – Urgent Assistance Needed
I canceled my MediHelp membership on June 10, 2024, giving nearly two months’ notice, with my official termination date being August 1, 2024. My plan included an annual savings allocation of R22,392.00 (R1,866 x 12), which was provided as a credit facility for the year. I understand that if I had used the full savings, I would need to repay the portion covering September to December 2024 (R7,464.00 – R1,866 x 4).
However, I recently received a statement from MediHelp demanding repayment of the full credit facility as well as two months’ notice fees, which amounts to an unreasonable and excessive sum. This is neither fair nor aligned with the repayment terms I was made aware of.
I have reached out multiple times via email to discuss a resolution or an interest-free repayment plan (as allowed by law), but I have been ignored. Instead, my account has been handed over to legal representatives without any response or discussion from MediHelp.
I have now escalated this matter to the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) for intervention but would appreciate a direct resolution before further action is necessary. I expect a fair and transparent explanation of the charges and the option to arrange a reasonable repayment plan if required.
I request that MediHelp urgently responds to resolve this issue fairly.
