Terrible Service and Unprofessional Conduct

So I am a part of this medical aid for more than 10 years. I have a condition that went undiagnosed for years. My doctor writes a special motivation to show that the treatment required is a medical necessity (the treatment required is excluded for individuals older than 18) and I write a lengthly letter explaining my situation including the fact that at the age of 18 I was on their scheme but my condition was undiagnosed. What do they do. Decline my treatment. Just like that. Well I can honestly say that this medical aid does not care about their patients, customer loyalty and will not even think about going the extra mile for someone. Im going straight to the Medical Schemes Council about this. I am so seriously disgusted with this service provider and would not recommend it to anyone at this stage.

Id just like to add that I had asked Denis (Medihelp) to have the matter reviewed by a clinical professional who would be able to confirm my condition and this does not seem to have been done.

Dear RobynCZ
I have taken note of your frustration with Medihelp’s application of the rules, regulations and other healthcare interventions. I also want to assure you that Medihelp is not unsympathetic to the individual needs of our members. It is certainly not our objective to withhold benefits from members but to ensure the effective management of expenses and the sensible utilisation of benefits within the available funds.
As explained telephonically, your request for dental treatment remains declined, as it is limited to individuals under the age of 18 years according to the Medihelp Rules.
Medihelp is not indifferent to the needs or circumstances of its members, but our benefit allocations/calculations must at all times be made within the framework of the Rules. Section 32 of the Medical Schemes Act, 1998 stipulates that the rules of a medical scheme shall be binding on its members, officials and its Board of Trustees and that no exceptions can be made, no matter how deserving a case may be.
Kind regards
